Jenny Saville

(1970 - )

A contemporary British painter best known for her large-scale portrayals of the female figure. Her paintings focus mainly on the sensation of flesh, often depicting the figure with exaggerated proportions and imperfections.

 Coco Chanel

(1883-1971)

A French fashion designer and founder of the Chanel fashion empire. Her modernist designs, focusing on simplicity and comfort, redefined women’s fashion at the turn of the century. She is credited with inventing the “little black dress”, a huge departure from the corseted gowns of the time.

(1935-1977?)

The “King of Rock and Roll”, and all around cultural icon, his contribution to the world of music can go unsaid. His early career was bathed in controversy not over his music, but his emergence as a tenacious sex symbol with ungodly gyrating hips right out of the box.

Jane Goodall

(1934 - )

A British primatologist/anthropologist considered to be the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees. Her work as a young woman, sent to observe chimpanzees in Tanzania, led her to groundbreaking discoveries in the social structure of chimpanzees, and ultimately, in the origins of humankind.

Mary Shelley

(1797-1851)

An English writer best known for her novel “Frankenstein”, which is sometimes referred to as the first science fiction novel. Her creature has become a staple for last-minute Halloween costume options, but her story remains an indispensable contribution to literary history.

Ernest Hemingway

(1899-1961)

An American author and journalist, respected for his work, and somewhat admired for his lifestyle. The epitome of a “man’s man”, his thirst for adventure after serving in World War I brought him to Paris in the 20s and often to Africa, to slay a beast or two like a real man should.

This piece was a collaboration with sculptor Sarah McCaw based on a piece she hangs in her living room. It was an honour to finally bring her creature to life.

(1901-1966)

An innovator in animation and theme park design, he significantly influenced the entertainment industry in the 20th Century and has left behind what is arguably the biggest entertainment empire in the world as his legacy. Urban legends tell that he was cryogenically frozen in his last days to await his re-”animation”.
